Ninth ELCH Convention This Week; KMF Assists

PORT-AU-PRINCE, HAITI – August 10, 2009 – The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Haiti (ELCH) will hold its 9th Church Convention, August 13-16, 2009. This convention brings delegates from the entire country to gather and meet for teaching and theological reflection. This year’s convention will feature five topics to be taught to convention goers: Confession and Absolution, Justification and Sanctification, Baptism (Adults and Infants), The Creeds, and Holy Communion. There will be choirs from the different districts as well as delegates traveling long distances to attend.

The convention is a large financial burden to the ELCH and its members. In an effort to help strengthen the ELCH, The Kurt Marquart Fund is underwriting the educational component of the convention with a grant of $2,000. This generous gift is made possible because of the gracious and faithful donations of our donors. May the Lord of the Church bless this gathering in Haiti, and grant them wisdom and discernment as they discuss the way forward with the Gospel in Haiti.
