ELCH Seminary is Now Officially Recognized

SEMINARY CERTIFICATION GRANTED

PORT-AU-PRINCE, HAITI–February 6, 2009–The Kurt Marquart Fund for Theological Education in Haiti is pleased to announce that Concordia Theological Seminary–Haiti (CTSH) has been granted official certification as an accredited theological seminary by the Haitian government. This accreditation allows CTSH to grant the degree of Bachelor of Divinity to those preparing for the office of the holy ministry in Haiti.

The Seminary is currently operated as a “seminary without walls,” with classes conducted in the four regional centers of Port-Au-Prince, Jacmel, Les Cayes, and Cap Haitien. The travelling professors of CTSH are drawn from the ordained clergy of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Haiti, and include several graduates from Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, Indiana, a seminary of The Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod.

It is our fervent prayer that this enormous step will help the Church in Haiti to prepare more shepherds for the work of the work of the Gospel amongst the people of Haiti who are so much in need of the hope that is in Christ Jesus, our Lord.
