FORT WAYNE, IN–January 30, 2009–The Kurt Marquart Fund for Theological Education in Haiti was privileged to fund the travel for members of two leaders of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Haiti (ELCH) in order that they may participate in ongoing pastoral education by attending the Symposia at Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne.
The two pastors, the Reverend Marky Kessa, President of the ELCH and the Reverend Eliona Bernard, President of Concordia Theological Seminary–Haiti, attended the 24th annual symposium of Exegetical Theology on "The Coherence of the Sacred Scriptures" and the 32nd annual symposium of The Lutheran Confessions entitled "A Last Look at Missouri’s Critical Time: The 1950s to 1970s.”
While at Symposia, several members from The Marquart Fund and the ELCH were able to meet and discuss ways to better serve the needs of the church in Haiti.
